Northfield, Illinois -- Stepan Co has launched a new polyester polyol, Stepanpol PC-270-01, for acrylation and formulation into UV/EB inks, and claims the material is "seen as key to improved ink performance."
When acrylated, Stepanpol PC-270-01 makes it easy for ink formulators to incorporate higher pigment loadings, while reducing the level of additives usually necessary, according to Northfield, Illinois-based Stepan.
Ink formulators will have the flexibility to control the amount of pigment for the desired colour development, while gaining improved mill productivity. Consistent rheological properties with the new polyol will also help printers to better control their processes, the polyol maker said.
In the acrylation process, Stepanpol PC-270-01 can be used to achieve the desired functionality, as well as the flexibility to choose an appropriate viscosity for the type of printing.
