In die-cut adhesives, Stokvis said, ITW is active via its M&C Specialties unit, which provides custom die-cut adhesive components and slit rolls serving the healthcare, transport and electronics markets.
"The acquisition by ITW of the Stokvis Tape Group creates a unique global platform of tape and foam activities," a statement from the Dutch company said.
According to Stokvis, ITW will combine the Stokvis & M&C operations under the management umbrella of Stokvis, forming "a group of 28 companies, operating in 24 countries with state-of-the-art manufacturing and design services."
Stokvis, with more than 50 years as an independent adhesive tapes specialist, says is has "a strong reputation for solving the most demanding problems," in bonding, insulation, masking, protection, sealing, shielding and packaging applications.
For the automotive sector, it supplies self-adhesive and plain (non-adhesive) converted and roll products, specialising in: cellular plastics and rubbers; felts; non-woven cloth; heavy duty sound deadening composites; and structural bonding products.
Polyurethane foam is one of the products that Stokvis converts, with or without adhesives, using computer-aided design to engineer solutions for customers, the group's website says.
