The survey’s results illustrate that demand for PU remained steady throughout the period, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. With large parts of the population staying at home, during the height of the pandemic, there was a surge in demand for products containing PU, driven by the consequent booms in the home improvement and sporting goods sectors.
Lee Salamone, senior director, CPI, said: ‘The past few years have demonstrated just how resilient the polyurethanes industry has been, and continues to be, during ongoing challenges such as Covid-19 and supply chain issues. We continue to see strong performance thanks to the many dedicated professionals who continue to innovate high performance products for North American consumers.'
The report will be available to purchase from ACC’s web store on 7 October, immediately after this year’s Polyurethanes Technical Conference, which will be held in National Harbor, MD from 3-5 October.
The 300-page report was produced for CPI by IAL Consultants, and provides a breakdown of raw material demand for PU markets in the USA, Canada and Mexico by type and by major end-use market, for each country, over a three-year period. This data is presented in tables, charts and graphs and also indicates historic trends, market drivers and key industry issues.
