Mesa, Arizona – A new generation of ultra-low density spray foam has been introduced by SWD Urethane. Quik-Shield 108YM, or Yield Monster, has an even lower density than the previous generation of foam, the company claims.
SWD Urethane launches even lower density foam

The foam’s density is as low as 0.36 lb/ft3 (5.8 kg/m3), while maintaining a high R-value of 3.6. This allows a 39% greater yield over older 0.5 lb/ft3 (8.0 kg/m3) foams. The result, SWD says, is a significant reduction in material cost, and brings the price closer to that of traditional insulation materials such as fibreglass and cellulose.
Other advantages of 108YM, the company says, include ease of mixing, a wide heat and pressure window, and long-range application. For new residential construction, re-entry is possible in one hour without fans.
‘Two years ago, we launched the industry’s first Ultra-Low Density foam. Last year, we added the one-hour reentry for new construction with no fans required, claimed Jim Perkins, president of SWD Urethane. ‘We’ve pushed our technology advantage even further to produce staggering yields and unprecedented efficiency.’
