The plant will be built with a 700,000 sq ft (65,000m2) footprint, and will employ about 300 local people. There is scope to double capacity in the future, which would make it the company's largest factory. Production at the first phase is expected to start in 2023.
Tempur's chairman Scott Thompson said: 'This underpins our commitment to expanding our global manufacturing footprint to fulfil projected long-term demand.'
He said that Crawfordsville offers good transport links, and a robust business climate fostered by the state and local government.
