Lexington, Kentucky - Mattress maker Tempur-Pedic International Inc. has appointed Lou Jones as its executive vice president and general counsel.
In this new position, Jones will report directly to ceo Mark Sarvary and be responsible for Lexington, Kentucky-based Tempur-Pedic's worldwide legal operations.
Jones' appointment came a few days after the company announced it was suing some 17 mattress makers for patent infringements. Tempur Pedic claims the group is violating its US patent no 7 507 468, on 'Laminated Visco-Elastic Support,' which protects the proprietary design and construction of Tempur-Pedic's mattresses.
Jones brings to Tempur-Pedic more than 25 years of legal experience, most recently, with Papa John's International, a NASDAQ listed company and before that with Blockbuster Inc.
