Lexington, Kentucky - Mattress and pillow maker Tempur-Pedic International Inc. is to provide mattresses to the more than 160 Houses of the Ronald McDonald House Charities across the US, after supplying them first in its home region of Lexington in 2009.
"Tempur-Pedic is dedicated to helping people get their best nights' sleep every night, but we know this can be particularly challenging for parents and other caregivers. We're so pleased to be a part of this valuable undertaking helping families stay together, rest together and support each other in their times of need," said Mark Sarvary, ceo of Tempur-Pedic International, in an 11 Jan company announcement.
Tempur-Pedic started by outfitting four Ronald McDonald Houses with beds in 2009. In 2010, 30 to 40 more houses will receive Tempur-Pedic beds, meaning more than 32 000 families this year will be able to get the sleep they need to support their children. The plan is for all participating US Houses to have Tempur-Pedic beds by 2013.
"We know that children heal better and faster with their families nearby, and Ronald McDonald Houses are there to provide all the comforts of home to these families in need," said Marty Coyne, president and ceo, Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Logistics and transport group C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. has also volunteered its services free of charge to help Tempur-Pedic plan and carry out the most efficient distribution of beds over the next four years. EPW
