Lexington, Kentucky -- Tempur-Pedic International Inc, a manufacturer of memory foam and polyurethane-based products for the bedding industry, has reported net sales up 29 percent to $244.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2009 (Q4), increasing domestically and internationally by 40 percent and 15 percent respectively, a 26 Jan company statement said.
Consolidated mattress sales increased to $156 665, compared to $124 755 in the same period last year, and consolidated pillow sales increased to $32 079 from $25 990 in Q4 2008.
The company generated $14.6 million of operating cash flow in Q4 and reduced total debt by $17.5 million to $297.5 million, the statement said.
"Our fourth quarter and full-year results reflects a gradual improvement in the macro environment together with success from sales and marketing initiatives," said Tempur-Pedic ceo, Mark Sarvary. "Our recent product introductions and our new advertising campaign combined with continued productivity improvements should allow us to build on this performance in 2010," he added. (RD)
