Hull, UK - Thompson Plastics Group, a major supplier to the caravan, motor home and holiday home industries, producing exterior panels, washrooms and shower cubicles, has gone into administration. In addition to its thermoforming capability, the company's processes include long-fibre polyurethane, rotational moulding and RIM processing of pDCPD (dicyclopentadiene).
The group consists of Thompson Plastics Ltd (Hull), Plastics Ltd (Manchester), Thompson Technik Ltd (Hessle), Thompson Technik Ltd (Newcastle) and Thompson Technik (Bridgend). Charles Escott of PKF (UK) LLP, acting as administrative receivers, told Urethanes Technology International that Thompson Technik in Hessle, UK, is still operating in a limited capacity while it is offered for sale as a going concern, alongside the assets of the Hull and Manchester units.
In response to rumours that there may be an attempt from former directors of the Thompson Plastics Group to buy back one or more of the units, Escott said, "whilst I can confirm we are talking with a number of parties, I am not able to confirm whether any of them have any connection with current or former directors."
