Yokkaichi , Japan — Tosoh has announced plans for a new YEN 45bn ($ 433m) R&D centre in Yokkaichi – 50km south west of Nagoya.
Plans are for a 7,000m2 facility that will aggregate the firm’s polymer materials institute and urethane-related research.
According to a company document, it aims to strengthen technological synergies and create new products.
In its medium-term management plan, the company plans to make materials one of its main focuses. “Strengthening of customer lab functions to enrich the joint development with customers,” was also cited as a motivation for the project.
