Oxford, UK – West European car registrations in February 2020 were down by 7.0% compared with February 2020 at 960,000 units , according to data from LMC Automotive.
In February 2019, a total of 1.04m units were registered.
Looking at the largest markets; in Germany sales were down 10.80% in February. registrations were 239,943 units. This kept the year-to-date figures in negative territory. Sales so far are down 9.00% in 2020.
Brexit uncertainty again hit UK sales and these were down 5.80% year on year. Sales hit a total of 79.6 thousand cars in the month.
In France , the year on year number of registrations fell by 7.80% with a total of 0.3 m units sold there in the year so far. Spanish sales were down by 6% in the month at 94.6 thousand units.
Meanwhile, in Italy sales were down by 9% reaching a total of 162.8 thousand units in February. A total of 320,000 vehicles have been sold there in the year to date.
