Chiba, Japan -- Toyo Engineering India Ltd has been awarded the contract to build a new multi-business chemical production site for BASF India Ltd at the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region, on the west coast of India in Gujarat Province.
BASF's site will be an integrated hub for polyurethane manufacturing and will also house facilities for care chemicals and polymer dispersions for coatings and paper. Toyo-India will execute the project under a turnkey contract, with the plant expected to begin operating in 2014.
According to BASF, the Dahej plant will ensure local supply of products and solutions for India's growing markets and will cater to industries such as appliances, footwear, automotive, building materials, adhesives, architectural coatings, paper and personal care -- all contributing to BASF's business expansion in the northern and western regions of India.
The PU facility will produce thermoplastic polyurethane, microcellular PU polyurethane elastomers for automotive NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) parts and polyurethane systems.
The care chemicals facility will produce surfactants for home and personal care, while the polymer dispersions facility will produce products for architectural coatings, construction materials and paper coating.
