Kiyosu, Japan – Toyoda Gosei has developed a urethane microfoam film for cell culture in the drug discovery sector. It made its debut at the annual meeting of the Japanese Society for Alternatives to Animal Experiments.
The technology used to create the film comes from the company’s work on the design and production of steering wheels.
The film allows cells to be cultivated on a structure that resembles living tissues. Toyoda Gosei claims that the technology has potential as an alternative to animal experiments, including pharmacokinetic studies.
