Santana de Parnaiba, Brazil -- Trelleborg officially opened a state-of-the-art facility near Sao Paulo, Brazil, 9 Oct. The company sees itself as a leading developer and manufacturer of oil and marine hoses for the offshore oil & gas industry, and says specialised production of hoses for surface and deep water applications will allow the organisation to continue to develop its platform for local presence in the region and growth in Brazil's booming offshore oil industry.
This new facility will add to the company's already increased presence in Latin America within the offshore oil & gas industry after the opening of a newly constructed facility in Macaé, last month.
President of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, Mikael Fryklund, says: "The strongly growing offshore industry in Brazil justifies investments in the country. We have had significant sales to the oil and gas industry in Brazil for a long time. With the new facility, we continue to increase our global strength in oil hoses with local production and proximity to our customers in the country."
The plant, which is located in Santana de Parnaiba, near Sao Paulo, covers a total area of 15 000 sq.m and will be shared with Trelleborg's printing solutions operation.
This new facility will add to Trelleborg's already strong presence in Brazil. In September, Trelleborg inaugurated a newly constructed facility in Macaé which will manufacture a wide range of high-performance polymer-based solutions for offshore topside and subsea oil and gas exploration, such as insulation tape and buoyancy products, some using glass-syntactic polyurethane foam.
To support offshore customers in their quest to reach greater subsea depths, the new facility boasts the largest hydrostatic pressure testing vessel in the world.
