Noida, India – Türkiye-based mattress manufacturing machinery maker Elektroteks has continued to expand into the Indian mattress production market. Elektroteks first entered the Indian market in 2017 with a small border machine. The following year the company installed its first production line in India – which it believes to be one of the first rollpack machines installed in the subcontinent.
“We have grown stronger year-by-year, the positive market response led us to invest into a parts warehouse in Mumbai. Since then Elektroteks expanded its team, and now has five people, including three service technicians,” said Dhruvin Patel, Elektroteks sales manager, Asia Pacific at this year’s Mattresstech Expo in Nadia, Utter Pradesh.
The mattress and PU foam industry in India is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, driven by factors such as urbanisation, infrastructure development, and rising disposable income. The machinery producer plans to further hike its presence to take benefit from the evolving trends.
“We are prepared, and are investing in enhancing our service quality, and number of service engineers, in India in the near future. In coming years, Elektroteks will take a call on having its own production facility in India,” said Patel.
Growing comfortably at 15-20% year-on-year in India, the Turkish company believes India is one of the most important and fastest-growing markets in the world.
Elektroteks has more than 100 installations in the Indian mattress industry, and it counts almost as almost all of the country’s leading mattress manufacturers as its clients, including Sheela Foam, Kurlon, Duroflex, Wakefit, Nilkamal, Century, Flexipol, Skyfoam, and The Sleep Company.
Patel said: “On the PU side, we will be soon installing our first foam racking system, foam block crusher, foam roll compression machine along with foam block compression machine in India in 2023.”
India is regarded as a price sensitive market but demand for sophisticated automation in the industry is growing. Elektroteks tailors the automation of its premium machinery to fulfil the needs of the Indian industry. “We see lot of small and medium-sized companies showing interest in investing in automation and specialised machinery,” said Patel.
Since 2021 all Elektroteks machinery imported to India has been shipped in complete knock-down (CKD) form. An installation team from Elektroteks then assembles the machinery at the customer’s location.
