Adana, Turkey – Turkish PU boot producer Ateş AŞ is ramping up the manufacturing capacity of its plant in Adana in the south of the country. It is experiencing increased demand for its products in various foreign markets, according to senior company representatives.
The company invested about €4m in the plant in Adana, Nazım Turgut, its deputy general manager responsible for production, told local business daily Dünya. The company makes 10 types of PU boots at the factory, where it produces 1,000 units/day.
Rising export sales are driving its growth, and Ateş now has a foothold in 28 countries in the Middle East and Europe. Key foreign markets include Egypt, Italy, and Bulgaria, Turgut said. In addition, the business is currently looking to secure the necessary permissions to export to the US.
“Owing to the importance we give to making quality products, reasonable prices and customer satisfaction, we have become one of the most important brands in Turkey today,” he said. “In addition to the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, we also supply products to large projects and companies such as Turkish Airlines. We aim to grow by adding new products for the occupational safety sector every year with our R&D activities.”
Set up in 1969, Ateş employs more than 200 people. In addition to PU boots, it makes a range other products, mainly for the construction and manufacturing industries.
The company initially planned to locate its PU boot factory in Istanbul, but ultimately chose to open the 10,000m2 production facility in Adana. It also has a distribution centre in Çerkezköy, in the west of the country, from which it exports its products.
