Georgetown, Massachusetts - US packaging group UFP Technologies Inc. has acquired certain assets of Advanced Materials Group (AMI), a foam fabricator for the medical market based in Rancho Dominguez, California, a 3 Sep UFP statement said.
AMI had previously filed for Chapter 11 relief on 2 July 2009, which was approved by the bankruptcy court on 2 Sep 2009, the statement said.
"We are very pleased with this transaction," said UFP ceo, Jeffrey Bailly. "With its ISO 13485 Quality Certification, FDA certification, and clean room capabilities, AMI's facility is ideally suited to meeting the needs of our medical customers. It also strengthens our position on the west coast; with the Rancho Dominguez plant just 85 miles from our Ventura facility, we will also have the option to increase efficiencies by combining these two California operations," he added.
UFP also recently acquired Denver, Colorado-based E.N. Murray, a distributor of foam plastic products, specialising in polyurethane foams. (RD)
