By David Reed, UT EditorHaasrode, Belgium - Steadman & Son Ltd, one of the longest established manufacturers of roofing and cladding systems in the UK, is to make foam insulation panels using the HFC-245fa blowing agent developed by Honeywell, according to a 2 Sept press statement issued by the US-based supplier. The material, tradenamed Enovate® 3000, is a liquid hydrofluorocarbon which fulfils the requirements of the Montreal Protocol by not harming the ozone layer. In addition, the product is not flammable, Honeywell says. These characteristics mean that boards made using the material easily meet the fire-resistant standards set by the UK's Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), a recognized independent quality certification board, the Honeywell statement emphasises. Enovate® 3000 also provides superior insulation panel performance in comparison to competing products, the firm adds."
