In total, these five countries accounted for 94.8% of all the imports in March.
In the first three months of 2021, the US imported 73m more pairs of footwear than it did in the same period in 2020. At 599m pairs, this is up by 13.8% on the 2020 first quarter.
Over the course of the quarter, in the largest exporter was China with 62.0% of the total, or 371m pairs of footwear. In second place was Vietnam with 23.7% of the total. Vietnam exported 142mpairs of footwear. The five largest exporting nations in 2020, again also including Indonesia , Cambodia and India, accounted for 94.6% of imports to the US. This is equivalent to 561m pairs.
China increased its exports to the US in the first quarter of 2021 by 15%, Vietnam by 17% and Indonesia by 11% compared to 2020. In the same period, exports from Cambodia and India both fell by 5%.
