Washington, DC – Imports of footwear to the US rose by 93.6% in May 2021 compared with May 2020. At 197.7m units, the number of imports is 95.6m more than the 2020 month.
US footwear imports up 93% in May 2021
So far this year, the US has imported 986.7m pairs of footwear. By the same time last year, that number stood at 746.2m units. This is a 32.2% rise.
The biggest source of imports in May was China, which supplied 110.5m pairs. China was followed by Vietnam with 53.5m pairs, Indonesia 13.6m pairs, Cambodia 5.8m pairs, and Italy with 2.8m pairs.
In total, the top five sources accounted for 94.2% of all the imports in May.
