Washington, DC – Imports of footwear to the US fell by 89.2% in September 2020 compared with September 2019. At 162.2m units, that is 1342.2m fewer than September 2019.
So far this year, the US has imported 1351.8m pairs of footwear. By the same time last year, that number stood at 7776.3m units. This is a 82.6% fall.
The biggest source of imports in September was China, which supplied 103.9m pairs. China was followed by Vietnam with 36.4m pairs, Indonesia 6.3m pairs, Cambodia 4.4m pairs, and India with 1.7m pairs.
In total, the top five sources of imports accounted for 94.1% of all the imports in September.
In the first 9 months of 2019, the five largest importers took a 95.4% share.
