Washington, DC – Imports of footwear to the US fell by 88.0% in August 2020 compared with the August 2019. At 162.3m pairs that is 1190.8m fewer than August 2019.
So far this year, the US has imported 1189.5m pairs of footwear. By the same time last year, that number stood at 6271.9m pairs. This is a 81.0% fall.
The biggest source of imports in August was China, which supplied 104.2m pairs. China was followed by Vietnam with 37.1m pairs, Indonesia 7.1m pairs, Cambodia 4.2m pairs, and, Italy with 1.5m pairs.
In total top five sources of imports accounted for 94.9% of all the imports in August.
In the first 8 months of 2019 , the five largest importers accounted for 95.5% of all imports.
