Washington, DC – Imports of footwear to the US rose by 17.4% in October 2021 compared with October 2020. At 190.4m units, that is 28.3m more than were imported in October 2020.
US footwear imports rose in October
So far this year, the US has imported 1.98bn pairs of footwear. By the same time last year, that number stood at 1.51bn units. This is a 31.0% year on year rise.
The biggest source of imports in October was China, which supplied 132.1m pairs. China was followed by Vietnam with 28.4m pairs, Indonesia 9.4m pairs, Cambodia 4.6m pairs, and India with 2.8m pairs.
In total, the top five sources accounted for 93.2% of all the imports in October. This is less than 94.1% share recorded in this month last year.
