The largest source of imports to the US in March was China, which provided 840,000 refrigerators. Thailand supplied 42,500 units, making it the second largest source, and next on the list was Mexico, with 27,000 units. Turkey was the fourth largest originating nation with 13,000 units.
In March 2020, the largest source of imports was also China, with 305,000 units. Mexico with 21,000 units was the second largest source, followed by Canada, which accounted for 9,000 units.
In the first quarter of 2021, the largest exporter to the US was, once again, China which accounted for 840,000 refrigerators imported to the US. This number is up by 535,000 units on the same period in 2020. The five largest exporting nations in the first three months of 2021 include Thailand with 42,000 units, Mexico with 27,000 units, Turkey with 13,000 units and finally Italy with 9,000 units.
The top five exporting nations in the first three months of 2021 accounted for 97.1% of all refrigerator imports to the US, up from 94.4% in the same period last year.
