US mattress imports continued to surge in March 2022

    on, DC – US mattress imports leapt by 36% or 520,000 units in March 2022, with 1.85m mattresses. The year-to-date figure is 4.88m, a 38% rise compared with the same time frame in 2021.

    The largest source of imports to the US in March was Indonesia, which provided 439,000 mattresses. Mexico came second with 366,000 units, Vietnam third with 232,000 and Taiwan fourth, with 176,000. The fifth largest exporter in March was Kosovo, which was responsible for 109,763 units.

    In March 2021, the largest source of imports was Mexico, which provided 338,000 units. Vietnam with 22 ,000 units was second. Taiwan was third, and accounted for 140 ,000 units.   

    In total, the five largest sources of imports accounted for 1.32m units in March 2022      

    In 2021, the largest exporting nation was Indonesia, which exported a total of 1.24m mattresses up on the 0.82m mattresses imported from there in the first half of 2020.

    Information comes from the US International Trade Commission, and there is a lag of a few weeks between the end of the month and publication
