The largest source of imports to the US in September was Mexico, which provided 337,000 mattresses. Indonesia came second with 274,000 units, Taiwan was third with 136,000 units and Vietnam fourth, with 90,000 units. The fifth largest exporter in September was Kosovo, which was responsible for 67,691 units.
In September 2020 the largest source of imports was Indonesia which generated 462,000 units. Vietnam with 438,000 units was second. Malaysia was third and accounted for 248,000 units.
In total, the five largest sources of imports accounted for 1.4m units in September 2021.
In the first nine months of 2021, the largest exporting nation was Indonesia, which exported a total of 2.7m mattresses. This is down on the 3.1m mattresses imported from the same country in the first half of 2020.
Although Indonesia held its spot as top of the exporting nations in both years, there was turmoil below in the rankings, with Mexico taking second place with 2.4m mattresses exported in the first half of 2021. In the first half of 2020, the second largest exporting nation was Vietnam, with 3.1m mattresses exported to the US.
