Washington, DC – In October 2020, the US imported 2.18m mattresses. This is up by 32% or 734,000 more than were imported in October 2019.
US mattress imports grew again in October 2020
The year-to-date total of mattresses imported to the US is 16.81 m. This is a 65% rise, or 5.7m more than were imported compared in the same timeframe in 2019.
The largest source of imports to the US was Vietnam, which provided 595,000 mattresses. This was followed by Indonesia with 392,320 units, Malaysia with 323,100 and Turkey with 185,000 of the October total.
Earlier in November the US slapped tariffs on mattress imports from a number of south-east Asian countries, including Vietnam and Indonesia.
