Washington, DC – In November 2019, the US imported 1.48m mattresses. This is up by 9%, or 128,000 more than were imported in November 2018.
The year-to-date total of mattresses imported to the US is 11.30 m. This is a 15% fall compared with the same time frame in 2018. So far in 2019, the US has imported 1.96m fewer mattresses.
The largest source of imports to the US was Vietnam, which provided 356,000 mattresses. Vietnam was followed by Indonesia with 280,000 units, Malaysia with 154,000 and Thailand 119,000 units. The top five exporting nations to the US, which includes Mexico-sourced 1.02m units of the November total.
In November 2018, the largest sources of imports was China which generated 1.47m mattresses. Vietnam followed this, with 24,000 units. Canada was third and accounted for 24,000 units. In total, the five largest sources of imports accounted for 1.55m units of imports out of a total of 1.64 m.
