US mattress imports up a quarter in November 2021

    Washington, DC – In November 2021, the US imported 1.51m mattresses, up by 24% or 292,000 from the November 2020 figure.

    The year-to-date total of mattresses imported to the US as of November 2021 was 15.2m. This is a 24% rise compared with the same timeframe in 2020.

    The largest source of imports to the US in November was Indonesia, which provided 322,000 mattresses. Mexico came second with 253,000 units, Taiwan third with 163,000 units and Kosovo fourth, with 116,000 units of the November total. The fifth largest exporter in November was Vietnam, with 96,000 units.

    In November 2020 ,the largest source of imports was also Indonesia, which generated 398,000 units. Vietnam with 146,000 units was second. Mexico was third and accounted for 144 000 units. 

    In total, the five largest sources of imports accounted for 1.5m units of the total in November 21.

    Information comes from the US International Trade Commission, and there is a lag of a few weeks between the end of the month and publication.
