Alexandria, Virginia - ISPA (the International Sleep Products Association) reports that the 168 global exhibitors at its ISPA EXPO 2010 tradeshow 3-6 March in Charlotte, North Carolina, attracted more than 3100 attendees from 61 countries to see the latest in machinery, components, supplies, services and technology. ISPA noted that attendance surpassed that at the 2008 EXPO -- and said this was a surprise in today's difficult economy.
"Our final numbers confirmed what we heard from the majority ofattendees -- that the array of products and services was excellent, andcustomers' level of optimism is strong evidence that the mattressmarket is improving," said ISPA executive vice president Ryan Trainer, in a post Expo statement from the group.
According to ISPA, attendee buying power was also, "at a surprising high despite the challenges of a struggling economy."
Most exhibitors noted the strong traffic and turnout of serious buyers. "I am very happy with how well ISPA EXPO went for us and we are excited about the new direction and leadership that ISPA is taking within the industry," noted Ed Malechek, president of foam and bedding supplier Carpenter Co.
Attendees also praised the educational sessions on topics ranging from mattress safety to industry statistics, "green" initiatives and creating an "experience" for mattress shoppers.
