Shropshire, UK -- Smithers Rapra will be presenting its 'Understanding Polyurethanes' training seminar in Cleveland, Ohio on 12 - 14 May 2009.
This seminar was held in the US for the first time in April 2008, and Smithers Rapra said the "feedback was so positive" that it has decided to offer the event again in 2009.
According to the organisers, this year's programme also covers technical developments for utilising renewable materials in place of the conventional oil-based starting materials for making polyurethanes.
Participants can exploit the modular structure of the programme to sign up for the sessions which best suit their areas of interest. Jim O'Connor of SynUthane International Inc., based in Connecticut, presents sessions on polyurethane foams and the fundamental chemistry of polyurethanes, while Dave Russell of Akron BioMaterials Inc. will cover CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomer) uses.
During the seminar delegates will have the chance to meet with industry colleagues, "while gaining the most comprehensive overview of PU formulations, processing technologies, applications and markets," the organisers say.
