Washington, DC – In October 2021, the US imported 886,000 refrigerators. This is down by 39.3%, or 573,000 units fewer than were imported in October 2020.
US refrigerator imports decline again in October
The year-to-date total of refrigerators imported to the US is 9.50m, a 2% fall compared with the same time frame in 2020.
The largest, and dominant, source of imports to the US was China, which provided 728,000 refrigerators in October. This is 4.5 times more than the rest of the world.
In second place was Thailand, which supplied 48,000 , followed by Mexico with 38,000. Turkey was the fourth largest originating nation with 19,000 units.
In October 2020, the largest source of imports was China, which generated 1.4m units, 14 times the number of imports from the rest of the world. Thailand with 34,100 thousand units was the second largest source, followed by Mexico at 27,300.
Data comes from the US International Trade Commission, and there is a lag of a few weeks between the end of the month and publication.
