Washington, DC – In January 2022 the US imported 1m refrigerators. This is down by 24.1%, at 333,000 units fewer than were imported in January 2021.
US refrigerator imports down 24% in January 2022
The largest source of imports was, by quite some margin, China, which provided 915,000 refrigerators. Mexico supplied 48,000 units, making it the second largest source. Mexico was followed by Thailand with a total of 36,000 units, and Italy fourth with 20,000 units.
The top five exporting nations in the first three months of 2021 accounted for 97.9% of all refrigerator imports to the US. This is down slightly from 98.5% in January last year.
Data comes from the US International Trade Commission, and there is a lag of a few weeks between the end of the month and publication.
