Washington, DC – In July 2021 the US imported 820,000 refrigerators. This is down by 39.3%, 531,000 units fewer than were imported in July 2020.
US refrigerator imports dropped in July
The year-to-date total of refrigerators imported to the US is 7.00 m, a 27% rise compared with the same time frame in 2020. So far in 2021, the US has imported 1.5m more units.
The largest source of imports to the US in July was China which provided 685,000 refrigerators. Thailand which generated 53,000 units was the second largest source. Thailand was followed by Mexico with a total of 30,000 units originating from there. Turkey was fourth, with 14,000 units.
In July 2020, the largest source of imports was China, which supplied 1.3m units. Thailand with 31,000 units was the second largest source. Mexico was third, and accounted for 17.79 thousand units.
Data comes from the US International Trade Commission, and there is a lag of a few weeks between the end of the month and publication.
