US refrigerator imports fell by 41% in November 2021

    Washington, DC – In November 2021 the US imported 41.2% fewer refrigerators than in the same month in 2020.

    In total, the country imported 868,200 refrigerators in the month, down 608,000 on the November 2020 number.

    The year-to-November total was 10.36m. This is an 8% fall compared with the same time frame in 2020, a decline of 891,000 units.

    The largest source of imports to the US in November was China, which provided 741,000 refrigerators. Mexico was in second place, the source of 29,700 units, followed by Thailand with a total of 25,500 units. Italy was the fourth largest originating nation with 2,000.

    In November 2020, the largest source of imports was China which generated 1.4m units. Thailand with 32,300 units, was the distant second largest source. Mexico was the third largest exporter to the US then, and accounted for 22,470 units.

    Data comes from the US International Trade Commission, and there is a lag of a few weeks between the end of the month and publication.
