Beijing – China exported 420kT footwear and components in August 2019. The number is down by 3.6% from August 2018.
The value of exports rose by 0.4% compared with a year ago. A total of $4.4bn-worth were shipped in August, the latest month for which figures are available, said China’s General Administration of Customs.
Exports included 823m pair of shoes, down by 2.6% from August 2018. The Value of shoe exports dropped 0.1% to $4.2bn.
Export of shoes over the first eight months of 2019 reached 6.5bn pairs. This is flat compared with the same period in 2018. The total value of exports increased by 0.2% year on year to $29.9bn.
Shoes with outsole and upper both made with rubber or plastics accounted for roughly half of total volume and value, in both August and the first eight months of 2019.
