Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - A new crossover alternative energy vehicle (AEV) from Velozzi includes a range of PU materials from Bayer MaterialScience, BMS said 5 August.
The new Solo AEV from Velozzi includes polyurethane composite constructions for its load floors and liftgate, waterborne and low-solvent PU adhesives and coatings, and thermoplastic polyurethane for interior skins, as well as using polycarbonates for automotive glazing, the statement said.
The Velozzi Solo will be entered into the Automotive X prize, a competition to develop and bring to production vehicles that can achieve 100 or more miles per gallon.
"AEVs present a paradigm shift in how vehicles are made, and Bayer MaterialScience is well-positioned to work with both startup and traditional OEMs to 'reinvent' the traditional approach with vehicles like the Solo that elicit a 'wow'," said BMS automotive OEM key account manager, David Loren. (RD)
