Middleton, UK - Vitafoam, the largest producer of block polyurethane foam in the UK, celebrated 60 years in the foam business recently by holding a lunch to honour some of the company's longest serving UK employees. Company ceo Joe Menendez presented commemorative gifts to each employee at the event held in September.
Long serving employees who attended:
Norman Brown - 43 years of service for Vitafoam;
Steve Richardson - 40 years of service for Vitafoam;
Martin Hough - 39 years of service as a quality manager for Kay-Metzeler;
Peter Astles - 39 years of service as business manager at CIL, Preston, and
Fernley Parker - Retired in 1993 with 40 years of service for Vitafoam.
Vitafoam was founded in 1949, and originally manufactured latex foam mattresses in a challenging post-War Britain using redundant mixing machines from a bakery. Today, the company operates nine foam businesses in the UK servicing the furniture and bedding industries. (RD)
