St Johns, Michigan - Innovative Polymers Inc. is to use Walco Materials Group of Escondido, California, to distribute its polyurethane materials on the west coast of the US. These materials include high-performance, mercury-free polyurethanes which are compliant with regulations on RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances).
Among the Innovative Polymers products being distributed by Walco are high-strength, high-heat resistance polyurethanes for hand-, automated- and vacuum-assisted casting of prototypes and parts, said the St Johns-based group.
Innovative Polymers claims the thermoplastic-like polyurethanes are "ideal for the rapid production of parts such as impact-resistant bumper and fascia prototypes for vehicles, sterilisable surgical trays, architectural models and castings, sporting goods, consumer electronics, and material handling equipment components."
The company was formed in 1992 to provide prototypers and parts manufacturers with a full line of advanced polyurethanes as well as custom-formulated products. Innovative Polymers opened a new 15 000-sq.ft (1393-sq.m) facility in 2000. The manufacturing plant is designed for bulk as well as custom material production and has a research and development laboratory with quality control capability.
California-based Walco Materials Group has been a distributor of a broad range of polyurethanes, silicones, adhesives, machinable blocks, and accessories for more than 50 years, serving mouldmakers, general industrial manufacturers and producers of electronics components, among others.
