Espoo, Finland -- Walki Group is to establish a plant in Svetogorsk, Russia, with production set to start during autumn 2011, the producer of technical laminates and protective packaging materials said in a 13 June announcement.
The investment in a new plant in western Russia, close to the Finnish border, is part of the group's strategic plan to expand in emerging markets.
The first phase of the development will be investment to install both extrusion and print capability in the new plant, the Finnish company said in the statement.

As well as making packaging materials, Walki Group also produces multilayer laminate energy saving facings for rigid polyurethane foam in construction applications, and has production units in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, the UK and China.
