Pietarsaari, Finland -- Walki Group, a leading maker of protective packaging materials and technical laminates, is to raise prices on all of its Technical Product grades, following rises in raw material and energy costs.

At the same time, the group said, customers' payment terms will be harmonised to reflect standards set for specific geographical markets, for products in Walki's Flexible Packaging, Heavy Duty, Insulation & Construction and Technical Papers businesses.

These changes will take effect 1 Feb 2010. The level of increase will depend on the markets, the constituents of the products, and the structure of the agreements in place. The increase range will vary up to 10 percent.

Walki said specific details will be discussed with individual customers.

In the polyurethanes sector, Walki's Technical Products group supplies facing paper for use in flexible foam manufacture. It also has a building products group which supplies paper facings for rigid insulation foam for a range of construction uses, including roof, flooring and wall applications.

    • Separately the group announced that it has appointed Mikael Nováky its vice president and general manager of Paper Packaging. Walki has also appointed Jarkko Tuominen as vice president and general manager of Technical Products. Tuominen joins Walki from Pöyry Forest Industry Consulting, where he was in charge of packaging and converting.
