Yantai, Shandong – Wanhua has completed the technical upgrade of its MDI facilities at Wanhua Yantai Industrial Park, raising capacity from 600kT/year to 1.1mT/year.
The project obtained regulatory approval in June 2019, according to a Wanhua announcement dated 25February.
The upgrade was first announced in 2018 in an environmental impact assessment by Wanhua, and the report also included several other facilities as follows. These are a new HDI facility with 30kT/year capacity; a new HDI adduct facility with 20kT/year capacity; the expansion of aliphatic diisocyanate production, with no capacity figure given; H12MDA and H12MDI capacity increased from 10kT/year to 20kT/year; and IPDI capacity increased from 15kT/year to 30kT/year.
The company declined to give more details on the projects. or their progress.
Another environmental filing by Wanhua in 2018 showed it was also planning to increase polyether polyol capacity at the Yantai Park by 380kT/year.
