Yantai, China – Wanhua Chemical has introduced a PU mattress technology which, the company claims, fits the contours of the body and delivers a “wonderful sleep experience”.
The new mattress technology uses an open-cell polyurethane material that distributes pressure, exhibits slow rebound and responds to external forces. The company says the unique molecular structure of the PU allows for "flow" and displacement under pressure, ensuring a perfect fit, even if the bed’s occupant moves around, spreading support across the entire contact area.
Wanhua contends that the integration of the body's contours with the mattress ensures a healthy posture even while lying down, supporting the back, while minimising excessive pressure on the hips and aiding in maintaining proper spinal alignment. And it says that
the material's molecular structure has been engineered to offer enhanced breathability, eliminating moisture and heat retention.
The new PU material uses a bio-based polyether polyol, from non-edible castor oil, to achieve a bio-based content of over 50%, creating a material the company claims is low VOC and low odour. And Wanhua says it is committed to the entire life cycle of the material, aiming to establish a “green ecosystem” involving clients and consumers. The company says it aims, through this initiative, to transform every discarded mattress into a valuable resource, making replacements effortless and eco-friendly.
