Yantai, Shandong – Wanhua has a new breakthrough MDI production process that can raise its maximum single-line capacity from 800kT to 1.1MT/year.
Older facilities, using older technology, may have a lower maximum capacity, Wanhua said. The new process can be used to increase capacity of these plants. The company declined to provide more details on the breakthrough.
With the new process, the company plans to raise the capacity at its Yantai Industrial Park from 600kT/year to 1.1MT/year over the next three years.
Wanhua’s Ningbo Industrial Park was built in two phases, of 400kT/year capacity and 800kT/year capacity respectively. Total capacity will be raised to 1.5MT/year within three years, the company said.
‘In 2001 [Wanhua’s] single-line maximum capacity for MDI was 40kT/year,’ said a Wanhua announcement. ‘But we have put significant manpower and other resources into its research, leaving no stone unturned.’
The company remains China’s only MDI maker with its own technology, the announcement claimed.
