Petaluma, California – San Francisco Bay area contractor Wedge Roofing has won two roofing industry awards. The awards, from the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance and the National Roofing Contractors Association, both recognise the company’s excellence in spray foam roof installation.
The Spray Foam National Industry Excellence Award was for the ‘best spray foam roof less than 40,000 sq ft (3700m²)’, and the NRCA Gold Circle Award was for ‘innovative solutions in reroofing’.
Both cited the company’s technically challenging roofing project at Small Precision Tools’ manufacturing facility in Sonoma County, using Premium Spray Products’ commercial roof system. More than two-thirds of the roof was inaccessible using traditional methods.
Wedge developed a way to pre-apply spray foam to a rigid substrate, slide this beneath roof obstructions, and seamlessly integrate the components into the surrounding roof area. The company referred to the technique as RFBs, or rigid foam blankets.
The entire roof system received a base application of the plasticiser migration resistant primer Premicote P-64, followed by 4cm of Premiseal 280 2.8 lb./cu ft (45.9 kg/m³) density spray polyurethane foam. The process was completed with an application of Premicote 2100 high solid silicone protective coating.
