Oxford, UK – West European car registrations in August 2019 were down by 9% at 930,000 units. compared with August 2018 , according to data from LMC Automotive.
In August 2018, a total of 1.02m units were registered.
Looking at the largest markets; in Germany sales were down 0.80% in August. registrations were 313,748 units.
Brexit uncertainty again hit UK sales, and these were down 3.40% year on year. Sales hit a total of 92,573 cars in the month.
In France , the year on year number of registrations fell by 3.00% with a total of 1.5m units sold there in the year so far. Spanish sales were down by 31% in the month at 74 thousand units.
Meanwhile, in Italy sales were down by 3% reaching a total of 88,939 units in August. A total of 1.37m vehicles have been sold there in the year to date.
