Oxford, UK – West European car registrations in December 2019 were up by 20.6% at 1.14 m units. compared with December 2018 , according to data from LMC Automotive.
In December 2018, a total of 0.94m units were registered.
Looking at the largest markets; in Germany sales were up 19.50% in December. Registrations were 283,380 units.
Brexit uncertainty again hit UK sales, and these were down 2.40% year on year. Sales hit a total of 148,997 cars in the country.
In France , the year on year number of registrations rose by 1.90% with a total of 2.2 m units sold there in the year so far. Spanish sales were up by 7% in the month at 106,000 units.
Meanwhile, in Italy sales were up by 13% reaching a total of 140,075 units in December. A total of 1.9 m vehicles have been sold there in the year to date.
