At the same time, in the UK sales were down 39.7% year on year. Sales hit a total of 87,200 cars in the month.
In France , the year on year number of registrations fell by 32% with a total of 1m units sold there in the year so far. Spanish sales were down by 10.1% in the month at 66,900 units.
Meanwhile, in Italy sales were down by 0.4% reaching a total of 88,800 units in August. A total of 810,000 vehicles have been sold there in the year to date.
