Virginia, US – The winners of the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance’s annual national industry excellence awards have been announced. They are given for notable projects displaying best practice in the spray foam industry, recognising both contractors and their suppliers.

Concrete lifting by Polyseal at Port of Whittier, Alaska

The presentations were made during a ceremony at the organisation’s Convention & Expo in Daytona Beach, Florida, with awards made in seven categories. New this year is an award for concrete lifting projects. This was won by Polyseal Insulation, alongside supplier HMI, for its dolphin cell repair project at the Port of Whittier in Alaska.

Two awards recognise the use of SPF within buildings. The commercial category was also won by Polyseal for a project in Alaska, this time with supplier Huntsman Building Solutions, at the Fort Yukon long-range radar site’s barracks. In the residential category, Peak Spray Foam Insulation, along with suppliers Natural Polymers and IDI, for a project in Minnesota, where a low-VOC foam was installed in the home of a family with chemical sensitivities (pictured above).

Wedge Roofing's winning Napa County vineyard roof

There are three awards for roofing projects. In the category for SPF roof projects larger than 40,000 ft2, West Roofing Systems and supplier SWD won for their work at the Pennsylvania-based stainless steel vessel manufacturer Sharpsville Container.

Two separate projects in northern Californian wine country by Wedge Roofing with Cal Roofing Supply won awards in different categories. The award for an SPF roof less than 40,000 ft2 was received for a project at a Napa County vineyard, and the elastomeric roof coatings award was won by their work at the Hotel Healdsburg in nearby Sonoma County.

Midwest SFI's insulation project at Hawkins Chemical

The final award, for specialty applications, went to Midwest Spray Foam Insulation plus suppliers Foam Direct and Conklin. This was for a project at Hawkins Chemical.

In addition, two grand prizes were given this year, with two of the seven winners drawn from a hat. West Roofing Systems and Midwest Spray Foam Insulation will both receive a $5k digital marketing package.

“Our winners have completed some of our industry’s absolute best work in spray foam and coatings,” said Denny Vandewater, owner of Sadler Coating Systems, SPFA past-president and chairman of the 2023 SPFA Awards programme. “These projects and contractors are an inspiration to us all.”
