Pune, India – TMWB Foam has opened a new facility in Pune in the west of India, 150km from Mumbai to supply automotive OEMs. It will manufacture seating systems for commercial and passenger vehicles, and also for buses.
The 4200m2 plant specialises in manufacturing moulded foam, interior components and vacuum-formed parts, and has nearly 80 employees. Woodbridge said the site will create new jobs and expand the JV’s technical capabilities.
TMWB is a joint venture between Ontario, Canada-based Woodbridge, and TM Automotive Seating Systems. It was set up in December 2023. Woodbridge already had two facilities in India. One, an information technology centre, is also in Pune. It also has a moulded foam manufacturing plant in Sanand, in Gujarat, north-west India, which makes foam for a range of industries.
“This is a milestone for our business in the Indian market,” said Kai Jacobsen, Woodbridge’s president and CEO. “It showcases our products and technologies, and we are pleased to launch them in collaboration with our partner. Just over one year ago, the team started working on the partnership, and this plant is a testament to our success and a crucial step in Woodbridge’s growth within the country.”
